We Have a Technical 182:IDYDRPDRP
In this week’s podcast, we’re speaking with Lynette Cerezo, the creative force behind the cacophonic maelstrom that is Bestial Mouths! Lynette had plenty to say about her vision for the project through all of its permutations, the contrasts in new dark music in North America and Europe, and the personal roots of the macabre themes explored in Bestial Mouths’ work. We’re also chatting about the glut of new records rushing in during 2017’s last quarter, Blanck Mass, and the sticky issue of ethical promotion of one’s music. Don’t forget, you can rate and subscribe on iTunes, Google Play Music, download directly or stream from the widget down below.
Blanck Mass is amazing, especially the the debut self-titled LP. Which a monolithic, though delicately textured, slab of sound (if you don’t know it you must check it), I can also see the ant-zen connection you highlight, though particularly more so with this and to a lesser degree the previous album. I’ve often thought about the relationship/connection of bands like blanck mass (to which we can add tons more, like; Ben Frost, Rolly Porter, emptyset, Tim Hecker, Fennesz, Mika Vainio, Alessandro Cortini, Shapednoise, Ron Morelli…the list is endless) to what is generally regarded as “true industrial music”. In my opinion, the most interesting industrial music has for a number of years now been coming from outside the industrial community. Blanck mass being one of them.
