Hola, chochachos! On this episode of We Have a Technical we’re happy to welcome a long-running fixture in dark music who’s carved out a legendary reputation as both an artist and a leading figure in the music biz: Sam Rosenthal of Black Tape For a Blue Girl and Projekt Records. We chat with the American darkwave and ethereal music stalwart about revisiting the past on his band’s new album, running a label in 2016, and the nature of fan/artist relationships in this week’s installment of the official www.idieyoudie.com podcast! You can rate and subscribe on iTunes, Google Play Music and Stitcher, download directly, or stream from the widget down below!
Great interview! Surprised he didn’t mention the success of Lycia in the 90s or anything about the Projekt Fests (really wish I could have attended one of those). It was cool to see the success of the Remnants vinyl reissue in an era where I don’t feel like enough people talk about how important Projekt was/is. The new albums from Mercury’s Antennae and Autumn’s Grey Solace are great, too.
iTunes still hasn’t posted my review of the podcast I wrote almost a year ago now ;_;
Projekt was also well-known for their sampler CDs–a great way to preview music by artists you’d never heard of; online samples of tracks serve that purpose now but I’ve found those old samplers to be great collections in their own right. Thanks for giving Sam a chance to discuss the “new” music industry.
