We Have a Technical #49: Talking to Technicals
With just one week to go before The Great Debate, we decided to round off another conflict: that between us and those tough-talking but soft-walking punks over at Talking To Ghosts. Luckily for you, the listener, it’s not just us cutting wrestling promos over which is the better podcast. Instead, we opted for a roundtable discussion dealing with current issues pertinent to industrial culture: tours vs festivals, release formats, laptops, and what the hell is up with those damn industrial dance videos? Great podcast. Lots of interesting discussion points.
On the subject of Montrealers ditching Kinetik for inconsequential behind-the-scenes reasons: Do you know how many festivals are hosted in Montreal? I think it would be only a slight exaggeration to say billions. That’s definitely what it feels like. Montrealers are drowning in festivals. They ain’t even slightly special, and if the conditions surrounding a festival aren’t 100% perfect for us, then we’ll have no qualms about skipping it in favor of one of the dozen other festivals goin on that month.
We are some jaded, spoiled motherfuckers, lemme tell you 😉
Damn good podcast! And ya guys nailed it. The problem with the 2000’s “oontz” scene versus the 80s and 90s industrial scene is that it became more about showing up in vinyl corsets and be “seen” than an actual involvement with art, music and discovering new bands.
