Fifteen years on from its release, we’re looking back at Rot, the high watermark for Germany’s [:SITD:], on this month’s commentary podcast. It’s a record which stood out at the time in terms of structure and sound design compared to a relatively creatively inert club industrial scene, and we’re getting into the minutiae of why that is. Just got to this now but, just so you know, the “clean” vocals on [:SITD:] aren’t Carsten, they’re from Tom Lesczenski, the band’s main songwriter/programmer. Note his retro-futurepop supergroup, with Vasi Vallis and Krischan J-E Wesenberg, Future Lied to Us, where he’s the vocalist as well.
