Good call making the connection between rockabilly (or at least Psychobilly) and modern European EBM. In the early days of EBM the psychobilly and EBM fans where I was (UK) got on pretty well. Some of the psychobillies saw EBM very much as “like us, but weird”

It’s such an obvious and yet hugely relatable point you made that as a kid looking for an emotional outlet metal did not feel necessarily resonant as a genre. This made me recall the exact same feeling when mid 90’s NIN became my getaway into industrial for that very reason. I suppose in many scene variations this basic notion of aggression and angst channeled into the momentum of the music is relevant still. Not a bad thing in the slightest…
