The second of our Mount Rushmore Conversations centers on a band we talk about a lot, maybe more than any other. We wax hagiographic, lionize, and generally fawn over Front 242, albeit mostly from a personal perspective, on this week’s episode of We Have a Technical, the official I Die: You Die podcast. As always, you can rate and subscribe on iTunes, Google Play Music, download directly or stream from the widget down below.

Nice job guys. I enjoyed listening to that.
You missed the Tyranny For You tour where the sound, imagery, and stage design came together perfectly. The later Reboot efforts were good but somewhat diluted in an attempt to stay current.
I remember being puzzled by the Tyranny For You album. I was expecting an album full of danceable “Headhunter”-like tracks and was surpised by the fast but rigid “Tragedy For You” and other tracks which were not really dance-friendly. It now makes sense that the syncopation of “Headhunter” was an accident that they couldn’t capitalize on.
I think the name 242 was inspired by the Soviet Constructivist artists the Stenberg brothers who signed their images “2 Stenberg 2” (with Stenberg in Russian). For example, check out this image from 1928 and note the signature in the lower right corner: https://www.moma.org/d/assets/W1siZiIsIjIwMTYvMDgvMDMvMWx1ZThhbmNkal9TdGVuYmVyZ19UUjExNTUwXzJfbWF0dGVkLmpwZyJdLFsicCIsImNvbnZlcnQiLCIiXV0/Stenberg_TR11550_2_matted.jpg?sha=d50e646efe127c02
