We Have a Technical 139: A Ten Out of Ten
It’s an opposites attract episode of We Have A Technical, as we discuss the softer side of the avant garde with some discussion of mid-period Controlled Bleeding, and the industrial big beat stylings of The Retrosic’s Nightcrawler. We’re also discussing the recent departures from the Agent Side Grinder camp, plus some impending reissues on this week’s episode of We Have a Technical, the official I Die: You Die podcast! As always, you can rate and subscribe on iTunes, Google Play Music and Stitcher, download directly, or stream from the widget down below.
In regards to what The Retrosic was up to after Nightcrawler, I often wonder about what exactly happened. As I recall, the did a ‘remix’ for Project Pitchfork that appeared on their single for “Feel!” in 2009. I put ‘remix’ in quotes because it involved Cyrus doing vocals to replace most of Peter Spilles’ original vocals.
After that, I recall The Retrosic releasing a collaboration track with a vocalist using the name Doria Gray on Youtube called “Into the Shadows” in 2009. I believe it was meant to go on the soundtrack of a video game called Shadowrun that was in development at the time.
However, I can’t remember finding anything else they did since that was released into the wild. As was mentioned in the podcast, there has been no official word of dissolution (that I could find), but I’ve considered the project to be dead for a few years now. It’s unfortunate, because I was really looking forward to seeing what else would come out of The Retrosic’s camp after Nightcrawler.
Thanks for the info! Will take a look for those tunes. The Shadowrun FPS (which I imagine that would’ve been for) was abhorrent, but it’d be cool to hear some modern industrial bands do some work for the recent and excellent Shadowrun Returns games (I found myself listening to loads of Individual Totem while playing them).
