We Have a Technical #53: Intangible Tangerine Tangents
Oh man podcast listeners, Bruce and Alex fucked up real bad and forgot to come up with a topic or a guest for We Have a Technical (the official I Die: You Die podcast!) this week. So they did what any self-respecting industrial music nerds would do and fell back on talking about Forma Tadre and Interlace because they could literally drone on and on about those two acts for hours on end. Plus some updates to our thoughts about the Laibach tour, and more sedate general chit chat than usual, on the internet’s number one goth, industrial and related musics podcast! Oh the *fuzzies* that hearing a new (or new to me) music brings.
Compilations used to be a go to for me as a baby bat, lots of bang for the little buck I had. As soon as the internet became more of a daily function in my life, comps evolved from discovery to the capture of the illusive exclusive remixes for bands that I loved by a band that I knew little about. Now that everything is accessible via my phone, Podcasts have become my discovery compilations. Weekly mixtapes from kindred souls left to access at my convenience (which I’m super greatful for), opening rabbit holes for me to spend hours exploring. Now I spend the bucks on CDs (I know I know BUT I love the whole tactile experience) digitally when I must, and as many live experiences as possible.
Digital really does seem to be the game changer for the whole idea of compilations! Like, when you can get an endless stream of music (and taking into account stuff like Spotify Radio based on your preferences) it`s hard to imagine a need for a comp that doesn`t fulfill the role of archive or carefully curated mixtape.
