Item: Pop Will Eat Itself have taken to their Twitter and Facebook Group to announce a series of UK concert dates a, new line-up and new album New Noise Designed By A Sadist, to be released on Cooking Vinyl in October. Apparently the Poppies line-up for the upcoming shows will include founding drummer/ co-frontman and songwriter Graham Crabb on vocals, guitarist Tim Mudimann (Gary Numan/Sulpher), bassist Davey Bennet (This Burning Age), co-vocalist Mary Byker (Gaye Bykers on Acid/Apollo 440) and Jason Bowld (Pitchshifter/Killing Joke) on drums. Original vocalist and founding member Clint Mansell is apparently not involved in the live dates, presumably busy with his career composing for film, and whether he had any involvement in the upcoming record is unclear. Tour dates and album info can be found on the band’s Facebook page.
Item: ID:UD favorites Absolute Body Control have two upcoming releases of note. The first is a 12″ vinyl dubbed Mindless Intrusion on frontman Dirk Iven’s own Minimal Maximal imprint. Featuring tracks that appeared on the Surrender No Resistance EP (which we briefly discussed here) and the 2010 Sorrow EP, the record will be pressed on 180 gram vinyl and not reprinted once the 520 copy run has been sold through.
The second is a reissue of their 2008 album Wind[Re]Wind on US mega-label Metropolis Records. Featuring re-recordings of a clutch of Ivens and Von Wonterghem’s classic tracks, the Metro version will mark the first ever domestic North American release for the proto-EBM duo. The Mindless Intrusion 12″ will be released August 31st, the reissue of Wind[Re]Wind on October 11th, both can be ordered from our pals at Storming The Base.
Item: The first song from the new EP by Dali’s Car, the collaboration between Bauhaus vocalist Peter Murphy and recently deceased Japan bassist Mick Karn is now available for download via Karn’s webstore. A reworking of the instrumental track from the original Dali’s Car LP The Waking Hour, “Artemis” features new lyrics and vocals from Murphy, and is the first new music from the collaboration in some 27 years. The single is intended to commemorate Karn’s recent birthday, and the proceeds will go directly to his wife and son. A new 5 track EP In Glad Aloneness will be released in October. I still can’t believe that there’s going to be new Dali’s Car material. A bittersweet release, to be sure. Miss you, Mick.
